Naomi Reed

Naomi Reed is a Christian writer and speaker who grew up in Sydney and studied physiotherapy with her husband Darren. They spent six years serving in Nepal with the INF. During this time, Naomi worked at Green Pastures Leprosy Hospital and enjoyed fellowship at their local Nepali church. She also home-schooled their three sons and struggled through seven monsoons. At one point, fearing she may not make it through another 120 days of rain, she began to write. The months of typing by candlelight helped her to see God’s purposes through different seasons and (somewhat surprisingly) became her first book, ‘My Seventh Monsoon’. Back in Australia, Naomi continued writing – firstly the sequel, ‘No Ordinary View’ (which won the ACBOY award, 2009) and ’Over My Shoulder’ – a look at the impact of personality on cross-cultural mission.
Still enjoying first-person narrative, Naomi then turned her love of words to the creation of Biblical monologues, using the voices of women. A year later, ’The Promise’ was released and its audio version followed as a 7 CD set. Naomi now regularly performs these monologues in churches and larger conventions.
In 2011, Naomi completed the third book in the original trilogy, ‘Heading Home’ and it was released by Authentic Media in July 2012.
Naomi also finished her Grad Cert Divinity (SMBC) and went on to develop storytelling day conferences in 2013. Also that year, she began writing 'The Zookeeper' - a gospel show for children including puppets and music. The team of four have now presented the show 22 times in Sydney and regional NSW.
In 2012, Naomi was commissioned by Interserve to write a book capturing some of the best stories of faith and mission in Asia and the Arab World. 'The Plum Tree in the Desert' was released by Authentic Media in June 2015.
In 2015, Naomi began recording radio segments, known as 'Everyday Stories with Naomi Reed'. She also started work on an idea for a TV series.
